This summer, I decided to throw myself into the void from the top of the Pla d’Adet to accompany my 11 year old son in this adventure he was dreaming of! It will be in the early afternoon for me, and in the evening for my son, because, for the lightest, it is preferable to opt for a flight in the morning or in the evening when the wind is weak or fallen!
So, after talking about it around me and seeing in some of the parents’ eyes a sense of recklessness on my part to allow my son to take a paragliding jump, I reassured them that it was a sensational experience that was extremely safe, thanks to seasoned instructors.

July 22, 2022-DSC01352Paragliding in Saint Lary 5We finally get to the heart of the matter, once the sail is unpacked, and a few instructions given, we can launch ourselves. A few steps while walking, then a little acceleration and hop,that’s it in the air, let’s go for an original ride in the heart of the valley.
From Pla d’Adet, direction Sailhan, then thanks to the updrafts we go up towards Soulan, I listen to the instructions of my pilot conscientiously: “we will still try to take the updraft, lean to the right to turn, again to the right,” and we twirl above Vignec, where we will soon land.
What is amazing besides of course an exceptional view , is the sensation of going very slowly while you are in this case here at 35 or 40 km per hour, it is incredible: no impression of speed but of calm and serenity, it is really impressive!
Finally all smoothly we land walking with a family welcome committee including my son who is watching carefully the procedure he will have to follow in his turn.
It is 7 pm, it is my son’s turn to make his tandem baptism. The pilot, who kindly responded to my son’s request, descends in tight turns that provide more intense sensations than the quiet ride in the air as I like it, breathing qualified instructors listening for a smooth descent or not, as you wish but nevertheless always in safety
