The best places to picnic around Saint Lary

La base de loisirs d’Agos

On foot or by mountain bike from Saint Lary along La Neste, the river that runs through our valley, you will reach the base de loisirs d’Agos. It is the ideal place to spend a small day in love or in family with a good picnic! You will find a barbecue set up and tables.

The Leisure Base stretches along La Neste. You can plan an afternoon at the water’s edge because you will also find a small lake with landscaped and welcoming banks. Don’t hesitate to enjoy the coolness of the river banks where you will see the rafts or kayaks going down it. You will also find a skate Park as well as a pump-track for mountain bikers.

The Mousquère mill

-Situated on the road of the Azet pass between the villages of Sailhan and Estensan, about 3 kms from Saint-Lary, you will find the moulin de la Mousquère.

Many improvements have recently been made by the commune around the mill: parking, barbecue, public toilets, walking area, picnic area, bread oven, games for children, ….

You can also discover the educational walk with different themes: bird songs, emblematic animals of the Pyrenees, bees, wood….

You can get there on foot by taking the footpath that connects the village of Sailhan to Saint-Lary:by taking from the tourist office the n°1 to the village of Sailhan and the beginning of the n° 7 to the mill. For the return borrow the end of the n° 1 from Sailhan to Saint Lary.

The plateau of Ourtigué and barn of Arsoué

Ourtigué and Arsoué are pastoral areas that you can reach from the village of Azet.

Once in Azet follow the direction of Ourtigué or the route n°8 of our map “Balade et Randonnée”. For good walkers you can plan to follow this route #9 (point 1 to 4) from the village of Saint Lary.

You will then discover this pastoral area very pleasant in the beautiful season with small streams to refresh yourself and spend a pleasant moment.

Grézian Health Course

On the banks of the Neste, at the foot of the Grézian bridge, ideal for a picnic (barbecue set up) at noon or in the evening. You can enjoy the health course installed along the river as well as the pumptrack “Volcano” which will delight mountain bikers.

To get there by car or bike, from Saint Lary follow the direction Arreau then Bazus-Aure and Grézian. In Grézian you will see the bridge that spans the river, just cross it and you will have just after on the left the health course. This Place is very shady and pleasant in summer.

The Louron Valley and Lake Genos

-By car from Saint-Lary, take the direction of Arreau and then Loudenvielle Génos. You will cross the Vallée du Louron follow to Loudenvielle and you will see on your left the Lac de Genos.

This lake is good for relaxing, bird watching, and the scenery is grand on the peaks around.

It is also an opportunity for a nice walk around the lake on foot (about 1h) or by mountain bike (trails vtt signposted too) and for the enthusiasts you will find a pumptrack.

Ludic activities like pedaloon, paddle or kayak are also possible on the lake. (possibility of renting on the spot).
