Forget right away the tourist shuttle bus that takes you in 5 minutes to the lake of Aumar, you would miss the most beautiful.
No that here, the wild beauty that awaits you is discovered on foot!
Start the hike from the path that goes to the left after the parking lot and bypasses the lake on its right, heading for the laquettes.
You’ll reach the laquettes after about 45 minutes on a trail that winds its way up through the forest and along the stream a few times.

Lake Aubert hidden by its dam wall, doesn’t come into view until the very last minute.

Located a little higher than the previous one, It can be reached in about 15 minutes ( by the trail, not by the road), from the terminal parking of the shuttle bus.
The way back is either by returning by the same route, or by the variant from the last lake (Aumar) in the direction of the Estoudou pass and then a long descent to the Orédon refuge and the parking lot where you left your vehicle.
Finally, if you still have legs and time up there you can also go up:
– to the Aumar pass from the Aumar lake ( at the end of the lake on the left) 1h R/R
– to the Hourquette d’Aubert from the Aubert lake ( bypassing it by the right, marked path).1 h 30 A/R
A very nice panorama on these lakes and the surrounding summits including the famous Néouvielle awaits you.
Good hike, open your eyes and lungs wide.
