As soon as you arrive in Saint-Lary, you will enjoy discovering the beauty of an authentic Pyrenean village. The stone and half-timbered facades make this village a rich, authentic and well-preserved heritage characteristic of the mountain environment. Its proximity to the small neighboring villages makes it very friendly.

What a pleasure it is to stroll through the lively streets around numerous shops, to look at the windows of souvenir stores or interior decoration items. But you’ll also find fashion boutiques, a jewelry store or sales of local products of course!

The atmosphere of the Southwest is not lacking either! The terraces of our bars open up and come alive in the main street, which becomes pedestrian during busy periods. Cafe owners and restaurateurs enjoy expanding their terraces all day long.

The gastronomy

Want to discover the gastronomy of the Pyrenees? You have the choice of tasting our products either to take away or as a tasting at a table in our many restaurants. Our producers breeders of ewes, goats, cows or black pigs are proud to offer their products at our restaurants.

The black pig is the star of our plates and the cheeses from our pastures accompany it in our gastronomic menus. Our country markets are the privileged appointments to discover all these products. In Saint-Lary on Saturday morning, in Arreau on Thursday morning and in Vielle Aure on Tuesday morning.

Wool at your fingertips

Our producer of mohair wool (angora goat) raises his goats with passion and offers you his confections directly in his store! His mohair wool is exceptional and of excellent quality and you will be bluffed by the softness of the carpets, stoles or other socks…

Saffron

Saffron is also grown in our valley and spices up our dishes.

Honey of course!

The black bee of the Pyrenees, an endemic species more resistant but also wilder. Raised in the heights, they gather our wild flowers for a beautiful variety of organic honey.

Exceptional natural heritage

Ideally located in the Pyrenees chain, in the Pyrenees National Park, our valley is distinguished by its proximity to exceptional sites such as the Néouvielle Nature Reserve or the ORDESA National Park in Spain.

The valley is ideal for hiking, white water sports (canyoning, rafting), downhill and enduro mountain biking, bicycle touring and paragliding. Our valley can also be discovered in relaxation mode around our villages or other leisure centres with our incomparable Pyrenean peaks and ridges as a panorama.
