THE
PYRENEAN NATIONAL PARK
For more than 25 years, the Pyrenean National Park has protected
46,000 hectares of land, and a further 15,000 hectares in the
Ordesa National Park in Spain.
You'll find a rich assortment of flora including over 400 species,
such as the Pyrenean violet, fritillary, saxifrage, Pyrenean
lily... and some remarkable fauna. If you look up in the sky
you'll see the Bearded Vulture, the Royal Eagle or the Egyptian
vulture, and closer to the ground, marmots and izards and, if
you're lucky, you'll get to follow the tracks of the grizzly
bear (sadly a dying species). |
The National Park Museum in each valley organises
exhibitions and is there to answer your questions.

NEOUVIELLE NATURE RESERVE
The 2,300 hectare reserve is adjacent to the Pyrenean National Park and comes under its management. It is a region of high peaks accessible from the Aure valley and marked out by the limestone wall of Barroude and the Pic du Néouvielle.
Famous for its lakes (Aubert, Aumar, Laquettes, Orédon, Cap de Long), this massif is covered in beautiful forests of dwarf pines, the tallest in Europe...
